From urban hustle to serene nature, this update simplifies video editing and strengthens Pika Labs' standing in the AI video creation arena. Watch here.

  • South Korea deploys 7,000 AI robot dolls to seniors to combat loneliness 🤖❤️👴

South Korea introduces Hyodol’s $1,800 AI dolls to combat loneliness among the elderly. These high-tech companions offer conversation, emotional support, and practical assistance like medication reminders and health advice, with over 7,000 units already in use, showing promising results in reducing depression and enhancing health management among seniors.

  • Google confirms it’s restricting Gemini election queries globally 🚫

Google restricts Gemini's responses to election-related inquiries globally to curb potential AI misuse during critical voting periods. Already active in the U.S., these measures extend to India and other nations amid elections, reflecting Google's commitment to responsible AI usage in politically sensitive times.

  • Covariant is building ChatGPT for robots 🤖

California's Covariant is redefining AI's role by extending its capabilities beyond digital interactions to performing tangible tasks. With a hefty $222 million funding, Covariant's AI, enriched with motion-based data, is pioneering in fetching items and promising a future of versatile robotic functions, all commanded by human voice.

  • Midjourney introduces 'Character Reference' feature for consistent character recreation across images🎭

Midjourney introduces a game-changing 'Character Reference' feature, allowing users to recreate the same character consistently in various settings. By incorporating a '–cref' tag with a reference URL in their prompts, users can ensure narrative continuity by maintaining characters' facial features, body types, and attire. The feature, still in refinement, promises a new horizon for visual storytelling and media.

    How it works :

Type --cref URL after your prompt with a URL to an image of a character

You can use --cw to modify reference ‘strength’ from 100 to 0

strength 100 (--cw 100) is default and uses the face, hair, and clothes

At strength 0 (--cw 0) it’ll just focus on face (good for changing outfits / hair etc).

  • OpenAI board welcomes back Altman, teases groundbreaking AI model 💡

OpenAI has welcomed CEO Sam Altman back to its board after an investigation, adding three new members to strengthen governance. The firm is refining its ethical guidelines and launching a whistleblower hotline amidst this transition. Concurrently, OpenAI is enhancing its AI tools like Sora and DALL-E 3, focusing on user engagement and ethical standards. Amidst these organizational changes, Altman's tease of an upcoming AI model has sparked anticipation for a transformative breakthrough in the AI landscape.

  • Beff Jezos's Extropic AI revolutionizes chip tech with Analog-Thermal innovation 🔌

Beff Jezos, the mind behind the e/acc movement, has embarked on a new venture with the launch of Extropic AI, focusing on developing cutting-edge AI chips. The startup is introducing analog-thermal chips designed to significantly boost generative AI efficiency. Founders Guillaume Verdon and Trevor McCourt, in a discussion with YC's Garry Tan, unveiled their innovative approach, leveraging thermal noise for generating randomness more efficiently in machine learning. Extropic's unique blend of hardware and software, centered around analog stochastic chips, promises to potentially bypass the looming constraints of digital chip miniaturization, potentially sustaining AI advancements well into the future.
