Deep Dive ๐Ÿ”
  • Reddit partners with OpenAI to enhance AI responses and user interaction ๐Ÿค

OpenAI and Reddit have entered into a partnership, granting ChatGPT access to Reddit's content via the Reddit Data API. This will enable ChatGPT to generate more relevant responses. In exchange, Reddit will create AI-based features for its users and become an advertising partner with OpenAI. OpenAI COO Brad Lightcap states that this collaboration will equip ChatGPT with timely and pertinent information. Reddit CEO Steve Huffman believes this partnership will introduce new audiences to Reddit's communities.

  •  Interact with tables and graphs in ChatGPT ๐Ÿ“Š

OpenAI announced enhancements to ChatGPT's data analysis features, rolling out to Plus, Team, and Enterprise users soon. Users can now upload files directly from Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive, supporting spreadsheets, text documents, and presentations. ChatGPT can display data in tables, expand views to full screen, and offer in-depth analysis suggestions. Enhanced chart displays allow customization of bar, line, pie, and scatter charts, with options for specific queries and downloadable charts for presentations.

  • Sony Music gives deadline to more than 700 AI companies over unlicensed training data ๐Ÿ•’

Sony Music has requested over 700 AI companies, including Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI, to reveal if they have used any of the group's copyrighted music without permission for AI training. Sony views this as a potential copyright infringement. The companies have until the end of May to disclose the extent of Sony's music usage. While Sony has not ruled out licensing the data, it remains cautious. The legal status of using copyrighted material for AI training, whether as "fair use" or data theft, is still unclear. Lawsuits are ongoing globally, and legislators are working towards transparency, but no binding international case law exists yet.

  • Instagram Co-Founder Mike Krieger joins Anthropic as CPO ๐ŸŽ‰

Mike Krieger, co-founder and former CTO of Instagram, is now the Chief Product Officer at Anthropic. He will oversee product development and the expansion of the AI chatbot Claude. Krieger, known for scaling Instagram and developing the Artifact app, brings valuable experience. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei highlights Krieger's skills in designing user-friendly products as key to improving interactions with Claude.

  • Researchers find GPT-4 often mistaken for human in Turing Test ๐Ÿค–

Researchers revisited the Turing Test with GPT-4, finding that human participants couldn't reliably tell if they were chatting with a human or AI. GPT-4 was seen as human by 54 percent of participants, surpassing GPT-3.5 (50 percent) and ELIZA (22 percent), but not real people (67 percent). The study shows people rely more on linguistic style and social-emotional cues than logic in the Turing Test. This suggests that AI systems mimicking humans could significantly impact customer interactions and public perception.

  • Stability AI reportedly runs out of money and in negotiations to sell ๐Ÿ’ธ

Stability AI, the creator of Stable Diffusion, is negotiating a sale due to financial difficulties despite a billion-dollar valuation. The company faces a projected $142 million deficit in 2023 and owes $100 million to cloud providers. Potential buyers may be interested in Stability AI's 70-90 researchers, technical methods, and the Stable Diffusion brand.

  • Apple announces new accessibility features, including eye tracking, music haptics, and vocal shortcuts๐Ÿ“ฑ

Apple announced new accessibility features for iOS 18, including AI-powered Eye Tracking, Music Haptics, and Vocal Shortcuts. Eye Tracking allows users to control devices with their eyes, Music Haptics enhances music experience through vibrations, and Vocal Shortcuts let Siri launch tasks with custom phrases. These features will roll out later this year, potentially boosting accessibility for users with disabilities. Apple's WWDC on June 10th will be significant for the AI community.
